Outside of the Bexley Campus
Hundreds of students at London South East Colleges are celebrating success in their GCSE Maths and English resits today – paving the way to higher-level study, apprenticeships and exciting future careers.

Overall achievement has increased in both subjects, reflecting the determination of students and the commitment of staff who have supported them. Over 2200 students sat the English and maths exams, having not secured a Grade 4 or above while at school.

In addition to GCSE resit success, over 400 students have passed their Level 2 BTEC qualifications in a range of vocational subjects – including construction, electrical installation, hair & beauty, public services.

Today’s Level 2 results follow last week’s Level 3 and T Level achievements, which saw a 3.3% increase on last year. Having gained these qualifications, students are now progressing on to higher level courses and apprenticeships, as well as meaningful employment, moving them towards their long-term career goals.

Asfa Sohail, Deputy CEO and Executive Principal at London South East Colleges, said:
"I am extremely proud of our students’ resilience and ambition. Re-taking GCSEs alongside other studies takes huge commitment, but the rewards are clear – these results open doors to higher-level learning and to exciting career pathways.

"Progression is at the heart of what we do here at LSEC. Many of our students have overcome barriers in education, and today’s results demonstrate what can be achieved with the right mindset and support. Every learner deserves the chance to reach their potential, whether they are starting their career journey or returning to education later in life.

"Huge congratulations to our learners – your success today is the beginning of even greater achievements in the future."
